JEOPARDY FORMAT

The format organizers know. Done right.

A Jeopardy CTF with per-team flags by default, a scoreboard that holds under 500 teams, and container challenges that don't need a DevOps engineer on call.

How it scores.

  1. 01Pick a challengeweb · crypto · pwn · reverse · misc
  2. 02Submit the flagFLAG{…} unique to your team
  3. 03Points awardedstatic or decaying value
  4. 04Scoreboard updatesunder 5s at p95

Static scoring

Every challenge is worth a fixed number of points, no matter how many teams solve it. Use it for teaching events and qualifiers where you want the point values to reflect your intended difficulty, and where a late solve should count as much as an early one.

Dynamic scoring

A challenge starts at its maximum value and decays toward a floor as more teams solve it. The field decides what was hard. Use it for open competitions, where your difficulty estimates will be wrong and a challenge solved by 300 teams shouldn't outweigh one solved by 4.

Everything a Jeopardy event needs. Nothing to host.

Per-team flags
Submit p95 < 150ms · 100% of submits get a correct/incorrect responseEach team gets a unique flag derived from an HMAC. A cross-team submission is detected the moment it lands, not after a CSV export.
Live scoreboard
Update p95 < 5s at 500 teamsRedis-backed. Push-invalidate, pull-data. Tested at 500+ concurrent teams without pagination tricks or a refresh button.
Container challenges
Per-team instances. Resource-limited. First-party images. Players get their instance URL after starting the challenge.
Anti-cheat queue
Flagged submissions go to a review queue with evidence: who submitted, when, from where. Two organizers confirm before any penalty.
Dynamic scoring
Points decay as more teams solve. Configure the curve. Organizers preview it before the event goes live.
Audit trail
Every solve is a signed event. Every point is explainable. Export to CTFtime format after the event.

Latency figures are p95 from our own load tests. Definitions on the specification.
